History of Makeup

From the copper and lead ore that the ancient Egyptians used to create the world's first cosmetics to the scientifically advanced products of today that can do everything from hide pores, smooth complexions, and turn the pale green of your eyes a vivid shade of emerald, makeup has been an integral part of humankind for thousands of years. Over the centuries, women used burnt matches to darken their eyes, berries to stain their lips and young boys' urine to fade their freckles. They even swallowed ox blood in some misguided attempt to improve their complexions.
Women throughout history put their health at risk with many of their homemade cosmetics. In some cultures, for example, women used arsenic, lead, mercury, and even leeches to give themselves the pale appearance deemed beautiful in the old days. Thankfully, we've come a long way from the days of using toxic and deadly mixtures to enhance our looks.

Today's multi-billion dollar cosmetic industry must meet strict government regulations about what it can and cannot include in products and must follow safe manufacturing guidelines. Today, the most serious injury you're likely to receive from your cosmetics is an irritation or a rash from using a product that's too harsh for your skin. Yet, despite decades of safety testing and a safety record unparalleled in many industries, there are many myths circulating about the dangers of cosmetic ingredients.

HOW TO LOOK BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT!

  1. Have you ever wondered how you can look stunning without trying to be older than you really are? Want to look beautiful and natural, without using too many bad chemicals for your skin? This is a guide on how to look beautiful as a teenager, no matter who you are!
  2. 1
Take care of your face. Wash twice daily, morning and evening. One of the best features a person can have is clean skin. Most teenagers have some pimples because of hormones which create excess sebum (oils) that tend to clog up the pores. Use a good acne cleanser or toner-moisturizer. If you have severe acne, seek a dermatologist (a doctor who specializes in skin-conditions).
    • Some people prefer to make a lather (worked up on a cloth) using plain soap such as ivory. Use a clean, fresh wash-cloth every time -- not one that is being reused.
    • Always wear oil-free sunscreen to avoid sun burn and/or sun irritation. Always use a high factor sunscreen to protect your skin and keep it healthy.
    • Be gentle: Avoid injuring, scratching and smashing pimples to remove oil and black-heads.
    • Also, consider taking vitamins which will not only help you maintain your complexion, but give stronger hair and nails.
2
Have clean hair. As mentioned above, find a hair care routine that suits your hair type. Some people find that they need to wash their hair daily, some people three or four times a week.
  • Find a shampoo and conditioner that works for your hair, and stick to it.
  • Take advantage of your natural attributes; if your hair is wavy, choose a haircut that suits wavy hair. Ask your stylist to help you pick a style that suits your face shape.
  • You can straighten your hair if you want to. Do what looks good. Some days curl your hair. Consider getting side bangs.
3
Take good care of your teeth. Brush twice daily, morning and night. Use floss, mouthwash, and specialized dental tooth picks (not wooden ones). Try to avoid flavored mouthwash, like bubble gum, as after a while they don't smell very nice at all. Keep it up.

4
Stay hydrated. Drink at least 2 liters of water per day (approx. 8 glasses) and keep up those fruits and vegetables that contain a good amount of water in them. The water will keep your skin fresh and your eyes bright, and the vitamins in the fruit will keep you energetic and healthy.

5
Emphasize the part of your body you feel most confident about yourself.Wear vibrant tops if you like your upper body/arms and slimming pants if you love your legs! Use a gradual tanner on your legs after a shower and exfoliate beforehand to get a smoother coverage.

6
Be natural! Wearing moisturizer, light foundation, concealer, corrector, translucent powder, voluminous mascara on top lashes, peachy blush, and clear lip balm or gloss gives you a very natural look while enhancing your own features.

7
Try coloring your hair. It's best to do this on the holidays, then you can wash the color away if you don't like it. (note: temporary color may be better). You can also try subtle sun kissed highlights.

8
Paint your nails. Use vibrant colors and if you can, match the colors with what you are wearing. Remember to remove the nail polish with a moisturizing nail-polish remover two days from when you applied it, to let your nails breathe.

9
Have a positive attitude. Walk confidently and smile!

10
Smell good. Choose a perfume that suits you, spray a little on your wrists and neck, and wear it often. People will get used to your scent and will appreciate it.

11
Shave or wax. Do this after a shower; the hair is easier to remove then. Shave if you are on the run, but it is best to wax to prevent coarser hair growing back. Plus, waxing pulls the hair's roots out, so you have a longer period of time without the itchiness of hair growing back! Another hair removal idea is to pluck your eyebrows.

12
Wear jewelery. Rings, necklaces, sunglasses, anklets and bracelets can look great if chosen to suit your personality and your outfit. If you do not have your ears pierced but want the look, you can buy earrings that clip on your earlobe.

13
Re-invent your wardrobe. Choose clothes that express your personality but are normal everyday trends.

14
Be yourself and feel great! Remember you are always beautiful! When you feel beautiful you look beautiful.

FOUNDATIONS THAT WILL PERFECTLY SUITS FOR YOU!

FINDING the right and beautiful foundation can seem an impossible and hard task - we're always coming across formulas that are too yellow, too cakey or too oily - but when you do, it is truly a wonderful thing. The right foundation acts as a canvas for the rest of your make-up, as well as concealing imperfections, unifying skin tone and creating a flawless finish.
However, finding the one that suits you is a very personal quest - the texture, shade and coverage has to be just so for it to be something you want to put on your face every day!

HOW TO APPLY LIQUID EYELINER?

Choose your liquid eyeliner. So you’ve made the decision to use liquid eyeliner, but now you need to choose the best application style for you. Liquid eyeliner comes in two main types: felt tip and a dip-brush.
  • Felt tip liquid eyeliner is very similar to a marker, and has the eyeliner fed through it like a pen.
  • A dip-brush liquid eyeliner is similar to nail polish in that it comes with a small bottle of the eyeliner with a brush that must be dipped in in between each
Prepare your eyelids. Applying eyeliner is a middle step to be done after you put on your eye shadow but before you put on your mascara. Put on an eyelid primer to help your eye shadow and/or eyeliner stick to your lid for the whole day. If you plan on wearing eye shadow, apply it now and your eyeliner will go over the top.

Get in the right position. The biggest problem with applying liquid eyeliner is lacking a steady hand, causing a wavy line and uneven application. To rectify this problem, rest your elbow on a table and your hand on your cheek as you apply.
  • If you are able, hold a small hand-held mirror in your opposite hand instead of using a large mirror so that you can get a good view of your eyelid and liner application.
Draw a row of dots or dashes. When applying liquid eyeliner, avoid putting it on in a single line; doing so will increase your chances of a wavy line and uneven tail end. Instead, start by drawing small dots or dashes directly along your upper lash line, evenly spacing them apart.

Connect the dots. Use small, short, slow strokes to connect the dots or dashes you created along your line. You will be able to create an even line on both eyes that lacks any bumps or waves by following this method. Avoid connecting all the dots in a single stroke, but use several small strokes between each mark.

Smooth out your line. If you find that the top of your line shows the breaks between the dashes, steady your hand and draw a thin line along the edge to smooth it out. Do so on the bottom edge of the liner as well to fill in any space between your eyeliner and your lash line.

Finish your makeup. With the completion of your eyeliner, apply your mascara and any other finishing touches to your makeup. Use a large, full-bristled brush to wipe off any shadow or eyeliner that might have fallen underneath your eyes. Use a q-tip dipped in makeup remover to remove any mistakes you made in your eyeliner or mascara application.

HOW TO APPLY BLUSH?

Blush helps to make your beautiful face glow and look alive. Application is fairly straightforward but it's important to get it right to avoid overdoing the look.

Part 1 of 2: Preparation

1 Choose your blush type. Powder and gel blushes are good for oily skin; cream is best for normal to dry skin. Whichever type you choose, its shade should match your natural coloring, so try to pick one that reflects your color when you blush normally.
  • Select a color that will accent your existing best facial features and that won't stand out too much. Bright red may not look great on a pale person but can be terrific on a bronzed brown skin tone.
  • If you're pale, try a soft pink color or maybe even something with a little tan and pink in it.
  • Depending on your skin tone, you might need a lighter or a darker color. Dark skin needs a lighter color, whereas light skin may need a more natural color such as brown or tan.
  • It is suggested that to select the right color of blush, make a fist for about ten seconds, and the resulting color on your fingers is the color that you want to match.

Purchase some quality blush brushes. A blush brush is the best choice; never use a small, cheap brush. If you use a cheap brush, you'll have a cheap looking result. Avoid makeshift items such as cotton wool balls or powder puffs as these do not work well with the pigment in the blush.

Provide for a well lit space when adding your blush. Consider obtaining a lighted makeup mirror which will help emphasize your features and clarify what you are doing. Prepare prior to doing your makeup by washing your face, brushing your teeth, and putting on any foundation, cover-up, and bronze r that you regularly use.

Part 2 of 2: Application

Apply blush after you've put on the rest of your makeup.

Prepare. If you’re using a powder, lightly sweep a medium-sized fluffy brush through the blush and then tap it to remove any excess. If you’re using a cream or gel, dab a little on your ring finger.
  • Start with just a little blush — it’s easier to add more to your face than to take off too much of it.
Do a fish face, and apply the blush. This help you find the apple of your cheeks. Don't smile, that bring your cheeks up, and can make your blush to low [2]
  • The apples are the round rises where you naturally flush, as shown where the model's brush is resting.
Apply the blush to the center of the apple on one side of your face, blending the color along your cheekbone. If you’re using a cream or gel, dot the color first, then use your finger or a makeup sponge to blend it in. For the most natural look, always concentrate the color on the apples of your cheeks and blend well. And before blending, always dust off the excess to avoid excessively rosy cheeks.[3]
  • Make strokes with the brush from your cheeks (towards your nose) to the side of your face (towards your ears). Try not to make diagonal lines, as these won't appear natural but will risk being clown-like. Excess product can be blended toward the ear from the middle of the eye.[4]
  • Use a clean brush for blending.[5]
  • Brush downward at the end of blending, to allow the facial hairs to lie smoothly on your skin's surface.[6]
  • For a more youthful look, make sure to apply the blush on each side no lower than your nostril and no closer to your nose than your pupil.
If you accidentally apply too much powdered blush, cover it with translucent powder to tame the color. Excess cream can be blotted with a tissue. If you overdo it with a gel, wash it off and reapply sparingly.

Repeat on your other cheek, taking care to match the placement and color of the blush on both cheeks.

Dust your face with a translucent powder to set your new look. The translucent powder brings inner warmth into the cheeks

Finished.
